Nintendo DS

Post by Tyron »

Anyone have a DS? I have a chance to pick one up cheap and was thinking why not. Are they any good? The only games I know for them are the Big Brain ones.

I have one, imported it from Japan when you couldn't get them from the UK.

Love it to bits, out of handhelds, for pure game entertainment it beats the PSP in my opinion. My mate had a DS and a PSP, and his PSP just got neglected when he got his DS.

There are so many GREAT games on the DS.
I'm currently playing Mario and Luigi partener in Time.
I beat Yoshi Island DS recently and my brother wants me to try Contra.
You can also play Megaman ZX which I find AWESOME.
But the last boss is sooo hard...reminds me of my childhood.
You can also go for 2 of the Castle Vania games.
They look a bit like symphony of the night which is the best CV in my opinion.
Anyways there are so many fun games on it.
If you want to go on the cheap side get yourself one of them DS One Supercard where you can fit 2GB+ (Depending on the flashcard you buy) of roms watch movies and listen to music on your DS.
A lot of homebrew games are available on the net too.
I really like that little machine more then today's consoles.
If you are into RPGs there are many great ones also on the DS.
I'd say a DS today is pretty much my favorite console.

So you guys think it's worth 60 bucks then? My buddy bought one a couple of months ago and never took it out of the box. Wants to get rid of it.

The only reason I would contemplate it would be for the rpgs. Noticed a new Zelda was released but that was about all I knew. Sounds like there a quite few out. Didn't know about the other things you could do with it. I thought it was pretty much a glorified Gameboy.

I'll have to give it some serious thought then.

Well if you are one like me that likes old school 2d games then the DS is KING.
Like I said megaman castlevania and so on they are all there.
Then there are games like resident evil 1 which is in 3d but thats old...
Anyways 60 bucks I wouldn't even think about it and get it right away buddy.
I'm sure you will love it.
Why do you think its one of the best selling machine with the Wii.
Nintendo knows how to please gamers more then anyone in any audience.
Anyways its my opinion.

You guys convinced me. I'm picking it up tonight. Probably grab the new Zelda game and maybe Pokemon Diamond. Then I'll go hunt around the bargain bins in WalMart for some cheap older games like the Castelvania. Thanks for the game recommendations.

So did you actually get it yet ?

If you got Zelda, tell me how it is, I'm still trying to figure out whether to get it or not.

Yup. Picked it up yesterday. I grabbed Zelda as well. I only played a little bit to see how it was, so far. I'd say if you're a fan at all of the previous Zelda games, you'll like Phantom Hourglass. The controls are still a little iffy for me as a new DS owner, but it's fun using the stylus. The graphics are surprisingly good for such a small device. Definitely worth a purchase.

As an extra incentive...if you register your copy of Phantom Hourglass, Nintendo gives you an opportunity to do a short survey. Complete the survey and they'll send you a free stylus with a feather shape.

I'm not regretting the DS purchase at all. Looking forward to trying out a few more games.
