memory timings

can someone please explain what the timings stand for? i dont know what timings to look for when shopping for good ram. i presume lower is better (obviously), but i would like to know what each value represents.

Generally they give you four values, the CL, which is the CAS latency
Then there is generally TRCD, TRAS, and TRP
Generally they come in the order: CL, tRCD, tRAS and tRP
lower numbers are better, CL is usually 2, 2.5, or 3.

well, what do the timings do... like, i guess what i'm asking is what does each timing do differently in respect to each other?

well if you read, theres Cas to ras delay, i dont know the specifics, but there are tons of of articles online about them.
