I don't have Acrobat Viewer on my laptop yet, amongst many other things, but when I upgraded from 512MB to 2GB, my face was like this:

My desktop PC Has 1GB and I thought that was fast... good lord did 2 gigs on this laptop help with load times of many programs.

Really! I moved from 2x256 to 2x512 and noticed a little improvement, but nothing too major, I had expected an upgrade to 2Gb to show a similar small improvement; but I guess it all depends on what apps you are running...

2GB in my laptop and I love it! It was such a difference from 2x256 to 2x1GB. My desktop has 2x512 and my laptop is just that much faster than my desktop.
