A-DATA PC-4200 and faster

Post by gvblake22 »

Any memory guru's here have any experience with some of A-DATA's Vitesta Hyperram stuff? From what I hear the DDR566 and 600 modules ate TCCD based chips but what about some of the DDR500 and 533 flavors?
Anyone with overclocking experience with this stuff?

I'm looking at some kind of a 2x512 kit to put into an A64 rig...
THANKS!

I've worked with them on Intel systems a bit and seemed to be decent memory. All depends on how much you want to spend :)

Was looking for something under (or very near) the $200 mark :?
Particularly this:

Oh, is there any real difference between the A-DATA hyperam and the Vitesta stuff with the red heatspreader?

Ok, here's the dilemma:
Buy PC-4200 A-DATA hyperam and it is already spec'd to run fast for $200
OR
Buy Crucial Ballistix PC-3200 for about $210 and hope to OC it to high speeds (which is has been known to do). I only picked the ballistix because it is the cheapest stuff I could find that has still been known to OC to at least DDR500 spec.

you can do what i did and get some bh-5 or better used off ebay/forums. I got 1gb of bh-5 for like 205 shipped.

YEah, but doesn't BH-5 really only start to shine with 3v or more or is that just to get tight timings at the high speeds? Since I don't have a DDR booster or a LANparty board, there will be no extreme memory voltages for me:(

Plus I think that stuff is pretty hard to come by these days...

Both brands you mentioned should perform fine. Which do you think will resale better when you are done with it?

AAHHHHH, good call, didn't think of that one!
Maybe the BallistiX probably? Those 2-2-2 timings @DDR400 is a pretty good selling point :)

Nate does have a bad habit of making good points every now and then.
