dont trust anand too much when it comes to memory, their testing procedures are not standarized and the tables the use can be kinda funky. So take what they say with a grain of salt.

I'm awaiting a goodie package from OCZ which may have those parts in there, I'll keep you posted. I have had a Asus P5AD2-E Preme in a box for about two weeks now and theres dust on it. So much work I just can't keep up. Hopefuly I'll get that going with the OCZ. I'm also getting some stuff from Mushkin which is supposed to be killer.

Nate do you need my address to send me that 840 setup? (hehe) Man I'm I jealous, I've herd that combo is going to be pricey though.

After letting the modules run over night at 1GHz crunching some numbers they must have "burnt in" a bit because today I am able to MAX out the D955XBK reference board that I am using.

Using a 30% overclock on our Intel 840 dual core processor and 5-5-5 timings I was able to hit 1049.0MHz on the memory. This would of course beat our last world record of 1000.6GHz. At 1GHz the system is stable enough to be benchmarked as we wrote the article on that here. After the modules are kept here for a bit longer we will try some more benchmarking.

Take a good long look at this:

i've had my board in its box for three weeks now. i can't get OCZ
here in SA, so i had to buy it from pc-memory-upgrade.co.uk, and
i've been waiting since 22march... so i can't do anything until i get my
RAM.

would be interesting to see how the other mobo manufacturers do
with the new chipset, especially Asus and DFI.

Eva,

It's not 100% benchmark stable at 1049MHz, but I'm going to give it a try later today.

Whipme,

I'm suprised you couldn't get anything next door in Australia. I know a couple companies there that should ship to South Africe. I too am waiting to see what DFI can do with this chipset. I talked with some folks at Intel and they are trying to see if they can make me a BIOS that has the option for a 1T command rate like the nvidia C19 board. I aksed for some more voltage on the vDIMM, but got this answer:
I would get you a BIOS if I could but the limitation is not
BIOS. The hardware is designed to allow specific steps in voltage.
There are some R/C values that would need to change.
but, on another note:
Intel may have 1.6v CPU voltage options coming.
I've been talking with some key people at Intel daily about overclocking and they are really taking interest in their D955XBK board. I'm really impressed by Intel on this one!

I changed over to a 1066FSB processor and have hit 1,174MHz DDR2.

WOW, that's some serious bandwidth!
Is that speed stable at all? Is 1049mhz any more stable with the new CPU?

i am 100% stable at 1,174MHz DDR2 and it's done and benchmarked... I'm working with Franck over at CPU-Z on being able to adjust the FSB on these new i955x boards right now. I am maxed out once again due to BIOS limitations. The bios only allows the 3.73GHz EE to overclock 10% on the FSB. The Intel EE 840 can overclock to 30%, so i'm not sure what is going on with this intel BIOS. It's pretty solid, but still needs some stuff ironed out.

266FSB x 10% overclock = 294MHz FSB If I could just get over 1.2GHz I'd be happy.

Well i find it amazing that the next speed grades for memory are 800MHz, 1066Mhz and so on. I'm already over that!

Plus DDR3 is going to kick in at 1066 and take over like DDR2 did at 533MHz.

What kind of latencies does DDR3 have compared to DDR2? Is DDR3 really going to be a reality soon?? When do you expect platforms to start supporting it? I know Intel will probably be the first to adopt it, but even the farthest reaches of AMD's roadmap just start using DDR2, let alone DDR3!

It is rumored that ATI will be going to tape on DDR3 first. Expect them to tape out a DDR3 platform this summer and DDR3 starting to be made by memory companies late 2005. Timings are still unknown at this time.

that has a lot to do with the continued sucsess of DDR1, if DDR1 had really crapped out at ddr400 then i think you would have seen a larger transition. My guess is that more DDR2 then you know is being sold but not in our community and thats why we dont notice.

so when is the official release dat for the 955X? coz im sure the tier 1
manufacturers will give much more leeway when it comes to overclocking.
Asus currently has the best overclocking 925XE mobo, and you can set
the fsb way over 294mhz.
how do the benches look at 4gig and mem at 1174? any scores worth noting?

sorry, should have been more specific, what does that system score on
superPi and Aquamark and possibly even 3dMark 01?
will the memory speed make a difference on a 4gig system with
ddr667 and ddr1174? and how much?
the bandwidth is phenomenal at 1174, but what applications will actually
benefit from it?

I am testing one of these D955XBK at the moment, I saw the DDR-800 option a couple of days ago I never thought it would work. I then saw this thread so thought I would give it a try, and hey presto, it works! This is with Kingston ValueRAM 8)
