twinx 3200C2 timings

Success!!!!

Before: 2.5-3-3-8 @ 378Mhz
After: 2.5-3-3-6 @ 400MHz

Now that you know the modules are good (run at specs) lets try to tighten up the timings for better performance. Like Drexor69 said lets try 2.5-3-2-6 timings @ 400MHz.

I tried 2.5-3-2-6 with no luck. I went to Corsair's RAM GUY forum and it has several posts from other people with AMD sytems with the same issue trying to run these at CAS2 which is how Zipzoomfly advertised them. They (zipzoom) said nothing about AMD only going to 2.5. I was wondering if the 3200C2 made with other ICs will do CAS2 on AMD or is this an accross the board thing? I have e-mailed an RMA request to ZIp Zoom on the basis that they listed them as CAS2 not 2.5. I don't know the other numbers but the VS1GBKIT400 is supposed to be CAS2.5 as well and I would not have spent the extra $80 on XMS if VS will work as well.

Merlin--

I would do the same things if I was in your shoes. You just got unlucky with the IC's on those modules...they only used Infineon based modules for a short period of time. The current modules are using Samsung ;)

Got my RMA number from Corsair no questions asked. I'm hoping that they descide to replace with 3200LL which they might. I'll get back with you on the rtimings issue when my replacements arrive.

I would have been but I sent them back today for a replacement set. I won't have the replacements till maybe a week from monday since I live in Texas and Corsair is in California. Depending on what they replace my set with ( another set of C2 without Infineon ICs or a set of LL) I'll try any timings that mightr have a chance of working.

Sounds good, oh question: When you did you purchase your modules and had the rma time expired, etc?

When I bought mine (different version, but overall the same) I was looking through many places to buy from for all my parts, but I never bought from ZipZoomFly...I had read some rather shady things on there by quite a few people (I think from dealtime.com reviews) even though they were a 'trusted' dealer...I also found little if any price difference from other places at the time so I didn't bother with them really, I guess now I know not to. However, I can't help but say that technically, Corsair are the ones advertising them as CAS2, which they are, however, only on the Intel sets. I can't really say, since I didn't see the Zipzoom ad, etc. It actually says though, on the Corsair site that they only go 2.5 for AMD platforms; also in the data sheet...:$

Good luck with your new ones, I heard Corsair was very good at with their word, looks like it so far~!

I e-mailed both ZipZoom and Corsair on the same day and Corsair responded in less than 18 hours with an RMA number no questions asked. As to ZipZoom, I have yet to hear anything back from them. I bought the memory on June 7 and ZipZoom's return policy on memory is fifteen days after which your supposed to contact the manufacturer. Corsair does say on their site that the 3200C2 is CAS 2.5 on AMD systems but its only denoted by a * beside the part number and you have to scroll to the bottom of the page to see what the * means. If I don't get a response from ZipZoom at all, the Wavemaster case I bought Two weeks ago will be the last item I buy from them. I cant' abide a vendor who doesn't even respond.

Not to bash them, but that's along the lines of the things I read as well! After buying a case (I'm sure that was not the cheapest case, lol) like that and then that memory (which I know wasn't), then I wouldn't even worry with investing my time nor money with them on anything more than just trivial parts like a fan or something.

Anyways, I'm surprised Corsair didn't even ask questions, lol :) yeah, I think 15 days is generally what a lot of places have, however I don't even think I had all my parts and system built in 15 days...no it took 4 days for my case to get to my house from across the country (from California to North Carolina) and I had the memory in just a couple days. None took about more than a day for processing, which was very hard to wait because I was sitting with misc. parts and just reading their manuals and soaking all the info. into my brain, trying to wait for all my parts! Turns out I waited anyway for my friend to come over and I built it while he provided company and helped teach him a few things as well (we later built his system together, lol was fun!) Anyways, I did read once on Corsair site (I thought I may have had problems with my RAM as well, but I'm not entirely sure so I never bothered, as it did work pretty well) that they would RMA even if you didn't buy it from them or something like that...I thought that was really great and stuff...I like the RAM Guy forums too, what a good way to get support and RMA, etc. imo...lol :) I'm just in love with Corsair Micro, it doesn't matter lol!
