I'd go for the PC6400 kit, it will work well with your board when running 1:1.

The 975X board doesn't do much over 400MHz... on average, so if your running 1:1 then the ram will be somewhere between 800 and 900MHz.
Most, if not all PC6400 kits can do that!
If you got the PC1066 kit, your board would have to run a FSB of over 500MHz and the 975X chipset can't do that without a few voltage mods.
Don't bother running anything else than 1:1 with a lower end C2D as your need some
very fast ram and the performance increase is negligible...

so the new ram wont get me more than 140mhz? i had it running at 400fsb with my 5400 kit so shouldnt i be able to get atleast 3GHz with the dominators?

You'll need to hit ~429MHz fsb to hit 3GHz, that's also about the max the 975X chipset does too! (Some do more, but afaik not much more)

I have tested a lot of I975 and I965 MB's and all of them top out about 900-980 MHz for I975 and 940-1030 for I965 with out over volting the chipset and memory, you also need to choose a MB that gives you options to over clock like ABit, ASUS, MSI, or Giga-Byte or the Intel Bad Axe 2 only.
