It seems like everyone is moving to DDR3 now, but i just recently bought 2 gigs of PC2-8500 RAM for 160 bucks, i'm liking it so far, but would it really be worth it to get DDR3?

the price is the prohibitive factor right now. There is really no advantage, I mean yeah it gives you better bandwidth, just look at Nate's reviews, but still once they develop a board and a chip that are mature enough to take advantage of that, no, you made the right decision

DDR3 starts to look good 1600MHz+ and you can only use it on Intel P35 and X38 chipsets... Best to wait till prices come down or the Intel X48 Express Chipsets come out!

+1 to ddr2 here too. You can get high performance-overclocking ddr2 very cheap (if you are careful choosing the right modules). Ddr3 is still very expensive and the timmings are very high, except for few modules that are more expensive than a a new pc alltogether :P:P
Doesnt worth it right now.
