That is the question ;)

I built the Q6700 quad beast with the Intel DG33TL motherboard. Seems the 2 sticks of Adata 1gb memory are bad or need more voltage to work properly (which with an Intel board you cant seem to change :p ) so I have 2-512mb sticks at 800mhz and 2-1gb sticks at 667mhz. I was wondering what your thoughts were on the difference. I have read there isnt really much difference between those mhz ratings, but I figure I would ask the experts here!!

Oh I am running it on Vista 32 and 64 - I am typing in 64 right now, but I will be going back to 32 shortly ( installed 64 on a new hard drive so I can switch easily without dual boot ).

I want to do some games and video editing/converting, but other than that, everything will be run of the mill web surfing, legit reviews message board writing, etc.

so why the hell do they make them at different mhz then? just for the fsb and cpu to be divisible evenly? :?

oh I forgot the 3rd option - 3GB running at 667mhz :) Figured it never hurts to underclock ;)

I will be buying some more memory soon hopefully. I will probably go with 800mhz unless the cost is a LOT different. With prices as low as they are I doubt taht will be the case.

Mike

Thanx for all the help! Now I need to benchmark this puppy in 32bit and 64bit vista to see whcih is better :supz:
