Hi guys,
New to the forum, so bear with me.
I'm building my first PC and was wondering if you lot could answer a question for me.
The FSB of my MoBo and Processor will be 1066, but the memory I'm looking at is 4GB of DDR2 667... would it make more sense to just pay a little more and get the 1066 sticks? I can find it for just a few bucks more on Newegg.
DDR2 667 vs. DDR2 1066
Re: DDR2 667 vs. DDR2 1066
You can always get a DDR 800 stick and overclock that. I wouldn't go with DDR 667 since it might limit your overclock.
What parts are you planning to get for your build? Are you going to overclock?

Yeah actually.
I plan on getting the GeForce 9600GT for that very purpose. 800 you say? Hmm... that would actually save me a few bucks it looks like.

Welcome to the forums, I also would recommend the 800Mhz sticks.

DDR2-800 is the best bang for the buck atm and makes the most sense.

DDR2 667 is going to hurt performance... go with at least 800MHz modules!
Re: DDR2 667 vs. DDR2 1066
Wouldnt it jsut change the FSB: Dram ratio?? i know when i was overclocking the Good ol' Pentium 4 thats what it did when the CPU was at 1000Mhz Fsb and the ram is rated for a max of 400Mhz
Main Rig: C2D 6850 @ 3.0Ghz, 2Gb DDR2667Mhz @ 833Mhz 5-5-5-15 Timings , XFX xXx 8600GTS @ 730/2260 , Gigabyte Ga-945GCM-S2L

Re: DDR2 667 vs. DDR2 1066
having a cpu with 1066 FSB doesnt mean the ram have to be at 1066, actually if u were going to set the FSB:DRam ratio to 1:1 then a 667 module wont make problems with ure overclock up to at least when u get its native speed 333mhz >> 1333 FSB, yet i recommend against buying anything else than 800 mhz, i believe the 1066 models are just a waste of money, and the 667 are just slow and may limit ure overclock if u were going agressive. moreover 800 modules arent much more expensive than 667, u wont need to add more than ~30$ for most brands
