Rambus sues four memory-chip makers

Rambus, a chip-design company based in Mountain View, accused the four companies -- Micron Technology, Hynix, Infineon Technologies and Siemens -- of conspiring to block the adoption of Rambus' memory-chip technology. The suit was filed in Superior Court in San Francisco and seeks more than $1 billion in damages.

What's a million dollars these days? Aim for a billion! Wow thats a lot of cash, but thing of how many years this will be in court & all the court costs.

In 1996, a Hynix executive wrote an e-mail to a Hitachi executive and other memory-chip makers that they should ``educate others and get their agreement to say no to Rambus and no to Intel domination.''

Wow... that is a pretty strong comment to make in a sue happy world!

High speed propritary ram tech. they make ram go very very fast. thast why when the p4 first came out intel said well ddr will never be fast enough so you all have to buy expencive rambus from now on. thank god they were wrong.

still it is the fastest and intel were right, DDR would never be fast enough, Dual Channel DDR would!

Quad Channerl RAMBUS PC1066 can reach 9.6Gb/s and apparneltey SiS have got a chipset for it.... dont know if any motherboards utilise it yet tho... apparneltey Aopen were and i even saw a pre-production version of it, but i dont know whats going on now....
