Memory Not Running at Correct Speed
Memory Not Running at Correct Speed
Ok. So I've had this problem for a while. My motherboard (DFI LANParty DK-790FX-M2RS) Is supposed to support DDR2 1066MHz. Also, my CPU (AMD Phenom II X4 940) is supposed to support DDR2 1066MHz. ALSO, my RAM (Patriot Viper 1066MHz DDR2) is supposed to support 1066MHz. BUT my computer shows it as 400MHz. WHY!? I had found what I thought was the problem; a setting in the BIOS saying: Memory Timings, or somesuch, which was set to AUTO. Well, that wasn't correct, because AUTO was giving me 400MHz. I switched to 'MAXMEMCLK' which opened up a timings submenu, which allowed me to change it to DDR2 1066MHz. One of the titles changed to DDR2 800MHz. Yet, it is still running at 400MHz.

Re: Memory Not Running at Correct Speed
almost every stick of ddr2 1066 I've seen will default to ddr2 800 until its set correctly in the bios. When your ram is running at ddr2 800 it is actually at 400mhz but ddr2 has a x2 multiplier so it runs at 800mhz. when your ram clock is at 533mhz your ram is running at 1066. Typically there is a 1066 setting in the bios in the same place you found the ddr800 setting. You are right that you need to turn the memory settings from auto to manual.
Re: Memory Not Running at Correct Speed
I have set it to 1066MHz, but it's still saying 400, well actually 440, because I increased the HT to 220.

Re: Memory Not Running at Correct Speed
can you post a cpu-z screenshot?
Re: Memory Not Running at Correct Speed
Ok, I will get that down in a couple of minutes.
*EDIT*: CPU-Z and AMD Overdrive showing 440MHz. I am going to reboot now to see if I can fix some of the settings.
