Using CPUz, is it possible to identify the motherboard used in this PC (at very least the chipset)? As we should be able to work out the memory supported (either via the motherboard manufacturers website or chipset spec sheets).

2x 1GB is the max that chipset supports. This is common with the pentium dual core laptops.

If it's a laptop, odds are no, because they are mostly soldered to the motherboard as of late.

I have looked at this one and i can remove it like a 378 type socket.

Can you find any CPUs that will fit that socket?
Even if you can, there's no garuntee that they'd work though, as it might need a BIOS update to support it, and generally laptop motherboards don't get updated to support different CPUs they don't ship with.
