DDR3-1800 vs. DDR3-1866

Post by eunoia »

Playing around at configuring a system at http://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Configur ... px?mid=423 and I noticed a huge pricing break between DDR3-1800 and DDR3-1866. Is there a reason why the DDR3-1800 would not be the bargain? Assume a $3000 overclocked gaming rig, but I really don't know much about overclocking memory.

too bad they don't tell you the timings! I would call and ask what the difference in timings are as that is critical.

I'm guessing it's 1800MHz C8 versus 1866MHz C9

Ahhhhh, makes sense now, thanks. (Well, it makes sense the other way around 1800 9-9-9 vs. 1866 8-8-8 or tighter but I catch your drift.)

The performance difference shouldn't be that noticeable between those two. If the price difference is significant it probably isn't worth the money.
