pretty new here, I'm planning on building a new PC using ASRock 890GX(leaving the option of upgrading to dual gpu in future), AMD Phenom II x4 955, radeon 5850.
I was wondering if i could scavenge my old 3 GB DDR2 800MHz and use it or would that be a bottleneck in the system.

Unfortunately you will not be able to use your DDR2 memory. The ASRock 890GX uses DDR3 memory.

I would use a set of 1600MHz like this set of G.skill. I have used G.Skill in the past and had good luck.
