Did some 3dmark tests to confirm OCZ's claims that max 3dmark/gaming speeds will be lower than max superpi capable speeds due to most AMD64 mem controllers being stressed by 2x1GB with 3-3-2-8 timings.

Interesting findings

max memtest stable = 283mhz 3-3-2-8 at 2.64v
max superpi 32M stable = 282mhz 3-3-2-8 at 2.64v

but tried running 3dmark2003 at stock BFG 7800GTX 460/1300 speeds and this is what i got:

vcore = 1.4v (1.36v cpuz)

10x280mhz 3-3-2-8 at 2.64v = freezes in GT1 tried several times always freezes in GT1

10x280mhz 3-3-2-8 at 2.69v (2.6v + 0.03v option) = freezes in GT4 nature test

vcore = 1.425v (1.392v cpuz)

10x280mhz 3-3-2-8 at 2.69v (2.6v + 0.03v option) = PASSED but score was lower than usual 17400ish, rerun it again and PASSED again but now score was 13400ish ???

Adding a bit more vcore helped complete 3dmark2003 but score is weird ??

Seems OCZ is correct that 3dmark capable speeds will be lower than max superpi 32m speeds.

Now testing 11x274mhz 3-3-2-8 to see how it goes.

11x274mhz 3-3-2-8 definitely works ran GT1 and GT4 (both most stressing on system) in 3dmark2003 in 40 loops @1600x1200 resolution with no probs

More tweaks to come hopefully :)

some very nice results there... :)

I have a new X2 setup (4400+) with a lanparty sli-dr = I have yet to OC much as have yet to get some water cooling on it... lol

I have yet to include some real benchmark results.. but there coming... (working lates so have little time to "play" with the system + I'm new to AMD - OC'ing an AMD is way different than Intel!)

Question: that ram... does anything over 2.6v help @ all?? even 2.8v?
I think that ram uses infenon IC's? or is it the samsung UCCC??

this ram likes low volts between 2.6-2.7v

infineon based :)

Yeah, I'm seeing the same issues with the testing I'm running. I'm testing 2GB kits from Corsair, Kingston, Crucial, and OCZ.....and the results are all over the place. It seems AMSD processors do not like 2GB of memory if its overclocked. Loves it at stock speeds though

i've only tested

2x 1GB OCZ PC3200 Performance 3-3-3-8
2x 1GB and 4x1GB Crucial Ballistix PC4000 Tracers
2x 1GB Patriot PC3200LLK
2x 1GB OCZ PC4000EB Platinum

by far the easiest to oc are Ballistixs (Micron) and these PC4000EB Plats/Patriot PC3200LLK (Infineon)

all hail the computer addiction, lol. don't worry, I plan on going dual core 3800+ and start (initially anyways) with the SI-120 HSF with a Delta SHE, going to use the DFI Infinity Ultra and couple that with OCZ Platinum EL PC-4800 (voltage settings on the board can handle it, I'm sure). I have to power it all with an OCZ 600W PowerStream (of course, lol, I gotta have those stable voltage rails, esp on the 3v side). When the money is saved up, then it's time for Exos 2, heheh. I am looking at insanity dead in the face and laughing: 3GHz on WC, on a 3800+ no less!! I can probably get more, but just the prospect of that makes me drool incessantly, lol. So my friend, you're not the only one addicted :)
