Ughhhh

No matter what, I can't get my OCZ PC4800 RAM (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820227217) to run at stocks speeds :x I'm wondering if it just isn't isn't working well with my mem controller on my Opty. A guy from OCZ has been trying to help on Anandtech but no luck so far. I'm going try with my new Opty when I get it on Monday and if it doesn't work out I amy sell these sticks and get some Corsairs. My Corsair 3200's worked awesome. You think they'd AT LEAST run stable at rated speeds (600mhz 2.5 4 4 10) :(
Here is what I have tried with the 704-2BT bios @ 2.7, 2.8, 2.9 & 3v...(items in parentheses are other settings tried).

with big toe's bios, the auto settings are with high latencies, have you tried to set everything to auto, except the main ones?

Yeah...working with OCZ now to try to get it straight but so far, all of the 500 changes they suggested have not worked. I got it to run @ 284 on a 180 divider (9x316) and he jokingly said I was greedy wanting to get 300. Funny, but the things are rated for 300 and 300 I should be able to get! I guess the 16Mhz extra won't amount to much but I'm anal when something doesn't work the way it should - especially when I paid basically top dollar for their "best" product. I could have spent $40 less and got the PC4200 for that performance.

I'm not knocking OCZ, they are providing excellent customer service, just a little frustrated that's all. It's hard enough to OC without having components not perform to spec.

Your right to expect 300Mhz, as you say, you paid for it!

Have you tested to be sure the chipset can pass a 300HMz?

If so, I'd get onto OCZ again!

Yeah...he's thinking it's the mem controller 'cos even at 7x300 we tried about 10 variations in settings and I couldn't get it to run a successful superpi 32m.

Bummer.....My chip won't work @ all with the 10x multi....Fails memtest @ stock
All other multi's are fine......but I have some OCZ plat rev.2 sticks, I'd prefer to run 260x10 than what I have now.....

OCZ is claiming it's the mem controllers that are causing it. I no longer have the packaging etc that came with them so I don't think RMA is gonna work. Anyone want some shiny OCZ plat RAM?

you don't have to have the original packaging to send it back to them... RMA that stuff and get what you paid for. If all else fails tell them I told you to. Who in tech support are you talking with? Sean?

I was working with Ryder (that's his username). I sold them already for a little bit of a loss (assuming I ever get my rebate). My GSkill came in yesterday but I haven't had a chance to mess with it yet.
