Only one RAM module in a dual channel board? Possible?

Hello!

I'm planning to buy a new system, and there are 2 boards in scope: a VIA KT600 based ASUS A7V600, and an nForce2 Ultra based EPOX Epox 8RDA3+.
My problem is that I can not buy 2 memory modules (no choice in that), and I'm not sure that nForce2 Ultra handles memory in single channels mode, or does it only work in dual channel mode.

( I know that nForce2 U is generally better that KT600, I'm trying to restructure my new rig to make the better fit in my price range)

Any information on that, guys?

Thank you!
Mark

Its fine, dont worry it will work in single channel a friend of mine has his NForce 2 in single chanel.

With AMDXP systems, there is little or no performance gain with dual channel enabled, because the CPU just cant use the extra bandwidth!

one module will work fine in a nforce 2 board. Just will be running with single channel performance. IE: 1-5% slower than you would with 2 sticks.

Like they say single channel is not a problem for the nForce. I would suggest that if you have to buy only one stick you buy a brand name and plan on getting a second stick in the future. That way when your ready to spring for dual channel you dont have to buy two sticks.

I try to do that, infinite, but costs are just killing me, and my options are rather restricted. I still don't know what will come out of this, I'm still before the purchase, and I keep getting answers from the shops that the stuff I want is not available  And I have to buy from certain shops to get my refund...

Worst case is you have to sell back what you buy now. its a pain in the butt but you can do it. ebay or a friend some one will buy it.
