DDR-3 The Future sooner than later?

Couple weeks back I was reading some obscure article about DDR-3 somewhere. The basic jist of the article was how well DDR-3 is working out. They aren't having all the problems with it like they were with DDR-2 when they first started working on it. Speed looked good and if I recall they can hit 1600mhz with it right now. Any kind of a roll out wouldn't be untill 2007 at the earliest. With Intel taking the CPU game center court AMD is going to have to play or sit on the sidelines. Then again, AMD hasen't thrown their star Rambus player into the game they paid for. Hmmm., I wonder! This game is starting to look like it could go the stretch. Wheres the Beer Hawker?

AMD might have support for it with AM2
SiS are also stating that their new chipset will have support for it, and that's out this year
BUT Intel don't intend to support it untill '08
and the actual memory makers say they won't make sticks untill '08
Unless Intel say they will support it, the memory makers won't bother IMO, as the vast amount of pc's made are intel based......like it or not....

Rember with AMD the memory controller is on the CPU so if they support it, then all the motherboard makers need to do is make sure the board can give the required voltage etc. --> no chipset support needed!!!!

I brought this thread up at the right time:

I feeel AMD needs this. What better way to keep Intel at its best!
Yes, I'm looking forward to Intels Conroe, have for some time, but without AMD, Intel wouldn't be working on Conroe
Come on DDR-3
