Corsair Dominator XMS2 Performance Memory Coming Soon

Post by Apoptosis »

Check it out! This ad is from Custom PC from a reader with a sharp eye in the UK. It's not out yet, but the ads are! Corsair XMS2 Dominator memory with clock speeds of what I wonder... I see a typo in the ad... says PC-10,000, should be PC2-10,000 --

Looks sweet.......but it will be like the PC6400 C3 stuff.......~€500 for 2GB

Very good DDR2 is soo expensive...! DDR1 was never as pricey! The best DDR1 was/is DDR500 2-3-2-X and that cost ~€300 whhen it came out
I'd love to have this Corsair stuff in my next Conroe build, but I ain't paying those prices........even if I had the cash, I wouldn't pay for it........just on principle
Memory Co.s are getting like ATI/nVidia.......jacking up the prices too much (and here's me with an X1900  )

"Electronics envy" won't win this round.

With a new heat spreader and even rumored performance numbers that beat out 6400C3 memory I'd imagine that the dominator will be the highest priced memory that Cosair offers. 1250MHz DDR2 is nothing to laugh at.

i think i just pooped myself!

wow, maybe by the time 45nm is out and im ready to upgrade, this might only cost me an arm, without giving up my much needed leg.

i can only assume someone on XS, or OCF or [H] will have some of these within the next month

oh and you think i don't have them? shame on you. Remember LR was the first to review XMS XL memory, the first to review the Nautilus 500, and the first to get XMS Pro memory reviews on the web ;)

Expected retail prices for these modules are from $600-$650 for the TWIN2X2048-8888C4DF and $380-$400 for the TWIN2X2048-8500C5D. The DOMINATOR Airflow is expected to retail for under $25.00

ouch alot of money to pay for those modules

here in Australia

2GB Corsair PC6400C3 goes for AUD$699-766
2GB Corsair PC6400C4 AUD$420-480
2GB Corsair PC8500C5 goes for AUD$699-780
2GB Gskill PC6400PHU2 HZ goes for AUD$360-400
2GB Gskill PC8000PHU2 HZ goes for AUD$760-780
2GB Gskill PC8500PHU2 HZ AUD$850+
2GB Mushkin PC6400 4-4-3 AUD$450-550
2GB Mushkin PC8000 4-5-4 AUD$740-800
2GB OCZ PC8000 Titanium Alpha AUD$780

means dominator pc8888 ~AUD$1000-1150

To put this in an Australian perspective

Asus P5W DH = AUD$399-450
Intel D975XBX = AUD$299-350
E6600 retail = AUD$499-550
850W Silverston ST85ZF = AUD$335-375

Ehhhhh. With those prices I'd have to end up buying a AMD AM2 3600+ and a cheapo motherboard :(

I just remembered about this heat sink that Geil made back for Computex I believe... It uses a heat pipe on each side and copper fins in the middle.

These Dominator DIMMs seem to be something better than Micron currently offers to Corsair for thier PC6400-C3 and PC8500-C5 DIMMs. Or maybe the same modules with fancy heat sinks that allow for more clock speed. Regardless the price will keep sales low I'd imagine. For you guy's on a budget I tested my Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X2048-6400C4 and pushed them over PC8500. You can read about it here...... http://www.houseofhelp.com/forums/showt ... hp?t=53440
