I'll be honest -- I can't recall taking any DDR2 memory higher than 2.5-2.6V

When I was reading this press release on the LANParty UT ICFX3200-T2R/G from DFI I was shocked at this part:

To maximize its overclocking potential the DFI LANParty UT ICFX3200-T2R/G motherboard is equipped with four DDR2 slots. Support is provided for single or double sided DDR2 800 and DDR2 1066 memory and also allows the memory voltage to be raised up to 3.2V.

This rare ATI RD600 powered motherboard will allow the memory to overvolt up to 3.2V... That's where we left off at DDR 1!!!! The JEDEC spec for DDR2 was 1.8V and everyone was talking about the power savings, but now we have the option to run 3.2V? No power savings from what I can tell. Plus that's a 1.4V increase from the JEDEC standard... How much you want to bet the LANParty UT ICFX3200-T2R/G will be blamed for killing memory modules...

That is awesome! Your going to need those OCZ modules to even run that high though lol. Bring on the Ln2!!!

The OCZ rep over at XS said that leaving dimms higher than 2.7 24/7 will severely lessen there lives. Extreme voltages like that should only be used for suicide runs.

Yep, killed a couple sets myself running 3.0v on D9GMH(even in -10c ambient!!! ), which seems more responsive than D9GKX when it comes to extreme voltages.

I tihnk it's more the pcb and supporting SMD's that cannot handle the voltage tho, TBH.

how much do ya wanna bet that DFI forgot that they were using DDR2 in those boards and just left thier template the same for all board descriptions and left it as their DDR1 standard

no DFI most likely wanted something that stood out, and no board on the market does 3+V on the memory without mods. This was for the WR benchers to have fun with

Asus Striker/P5NSLI-E/Commando/Crosshair == 3.425 vDimm

DFI Lanparty AM2 = 3.0v

DFI Lanparty RD600 INTC = 3.0v

Asus still wins the kill your hardware award.

Here is a screen shot of my DFI nForce 590 SLI-M2R Motherboard... 3.0V is enough for me and watercooling!
