Sound Bars?

Post by camaroguy1998 »

Considering a sound bar and want to know what your thoughts are!

Right now I have a Yamaha Receiver(inexpensive) with polk T-60s and Dayton Audio B652s for rear and a polk 10" sub and center ch.
None of it is high end and the sound tells me that. I have a Sony HTiaB(mini spkrs) that sounds better and cost less than half what I have in my setup!
To be honest, I listen to the radio more than TV watching and the Yamaha sucks for just audio!

So that brings me to consider a sound bar for my TV and use the bluetooth in the sound bar for my audio!

Bluetooth has already replaced my Batthroom BoomBox!
So why not the family room too!?!

I would like to keep it under $400

Sorry, I have no idea about sound bars. Most of them seemed so expensive it would be as cheap to buy a full surround system so I never bothered with them. I still have my OLD Onkyo setup around here somewhere but never even hooked it up because the wife says "It just takes up room"

That's part of the reason I'm going to a sound bar!
Its getting pretty cluttered under the TV!

I finally unpacked the soundbar and removed the other system.
Hooked it all up and was watching the "Winter Classic" Blues against the Wild in Minnesota! At one point it was -10F :yikes:

I was totally disappointed, my TV spkrs sounded better!
I turned it off in disgust! I'll check it out again tomorrow!
If it doesnt sound better with some better source material, it will be going back!

BTW.... Blues won 6-4!

WOW, it is bad if the regular tv speakers sound better! Maybe something wasn't working right? Audio out set to the wrong setting? Would be a shame to have to just send it back and start the looking all over again.

I did change the output but it made no difference!
Using the HDMI-ARC connection the soundbar already know whats going on!
Its advertised as completely "Plug n Play" setup!
There is an App I have downloaded but its wayyyy too late to be testing anything....lol
Tomorrow! I'm hoping for better results!
I've watched several Video Reviews and they all pretty much say the same thing, setup is easy and results are great!
In defense of my results a Hockey game on TNT is not a good choice foe source materiel!

I downloaded the App and made a couple of changes and Chose a Better Source Material, Star Trek Discovery!(S3 Epi 1)
Oh, sooo much better!
Pretty nice now!
Soundbar turns itself on when it senses a signal and turns itself off too!

Happy Days! :)

Glad you didnt have to go through the hassle of sending it back and starting your search all over again!
