Not exactly "home theater"...

A place to talk about A/V receivers, Blu-Ray players, LCD or Plasma TV mounting, audio tips or anything else that you think fits.

Not exactly "home theater"...

Excuse the photo, taken by Blackberry Curve in a poorly light room.

Just a little something I threw together over the weekend due to a lack of PCs speakers. The only set of speakers I had, the left one didn't work. I remembered I had my old Kenwood receiver in the garage, stole the Y connector from the speakers going in the trash and the speakers from my home theater and viola.

Gamer (as listed in sig)
Kenwood KR-V6030 (circa 1989 or so)
Polk Audio Monitor 40

Haven't been able to really crank it up, as my wife's desk is about 6 ft to the left of the setup, but it sounds great. The X-Fi rocks! Was able to hear bullets whizzing by my head sitting a few feet back. Setup is subject to change (as soon as I want to watch TV again) but it works for now so I could watch DVDs via Vista Media Center or Instant Watch movies from Netflix.

Hoping to pick up a decent, cheap set of speakers to make the setup a bit more permanent and even wire up some old Technic surround speakers I have to really test it out.

Edit: holy huge image batman! resizing.

That's pretty similar to what I'm planning to do, very nice!

My co-worker who I help with home theater installs tranded me a Sherwood AVR for some labor. I plan to use that and the old 5.1 Yamaha setup I had in my bedroom to replace these tiny Creative Labs speakers.
