Samsung Korea has announced it will reveal an ever-so-thin HDTV prototype at CES this week -- a clear trend going into the show. There's a paucity of info about it as of now, but it's going to be between 6.5 and 7mm thick -- and it doesn't appear to be part of the possible lineup we saw leaked a while back. "Thinnest HDTV" ever, huh? We'll see about that soon enough: Samsung's Vegas press conference is scheduled for Wednesday.

Don't these things have an external box that houses all of the electronics? Yes, it is cool that they are getting thinner and thinner, but the electronics brick is just another addition to your home theatre stack.

I have been reading revies on TVs for about 3 weeks now, as I am in the market for my first big screen..from the sounds of it, LG has been pushing the technology for the last year or 2 when it comes to LCDs. See, it's weird though, cause when I was in college, it was all about the SAMSUNGS.
