Compact Subwoofer Recommendations

I need recommendations on a compact subwoofer for my bedroom theater. I need something short enough to fit under a 8" high platform bed. My budget is below $350. I'd PREFER something with a wood enclosure but I'll entertain plastic ones.
Right now I'm leaning towards the HSU Research STF-1 sub.
