Creative X-Fi Worth It?

Post by Skippman »

I've been using an old Audigy 2 card for a few years now and with my last update to my PC decided to finally pull it out as many people commented about the new HD Audio codec onboard being superior in audio quality. I've been thinking about going to an X-Fi ever since.
I'm wondering if the X-Fi's really worth it, or if I should save the money and use it to help pay for an i7 board like the ASUS Rampage II that has EAX built onboard.

What do you guys think? Is the X-Fi worth it, or should I pass and hold my cash?

Depends how much you want to go i7 really. I'm a bit of an audiophile but not very technical about it. My stereo system i run my PC through just doesnt cut the mustard to justify spending $$$ on a really nice soundcard, but the ASUS SupremeFX card in it now sounds just fine to my standards.
You might want to estimate the time/cash for each upgrade path and see what works best for you
Cyberpower generic case
B450M PRO-VDH MAX
Ryzen 5 3600 w/PBO/OC
CM Hyper 212 EVO push/pull
Corsair VENGEANCE LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3600 CL16
MSI RTX 3060 Ti Ventus 3X 8G OC LHR
Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB
6GB Seagate HDD
EVGA 650BQ 650W PSU
ASUS VE278 27" monitor, Dell E2216HV (vertical)
Logitech Z533 2.1 Speakers, G935 7.1 or G435 headset
MS LXM-00001 keyboard
Razer Deathadder Elite, XBOX One Lunar Shift controller

I've come a long way from my original Core2Duo E6750 build y'all! :supz:
