external PSU for HTPC

Post by smack323 »

ok my next project is to mod a NES into an HTPC- I am thinking about using an external PSU to save space. I fould something like this and was wondering if you guys think it will provide enough power for my system. http://www.mini-box.com/picoPSU-90-80W-power-kit
or if this would even work with that mother board.

I am just now sure how much power this thing will draw.

The rest of the system I have is as follows:
ZOTAC IONITX-G-E Intel Atom 330 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813500037
4GB RAM
laptop DVD Drive
30 GB OCZ Vertex SSD (I might change to a 2.5 laptop drive for more storage)
Core i5-6500 - Corsair Vengence 16GB DDR4 2133 - MSI 2080Ti - Antec 750W - Crucial 525GB SSD - Windows 10 64bit - ASUS 32" LED

I don't know ION's power use off hand, but as it's designed for netbooks and stuff, I'm pretty confident in saying an 80W PSU will be fine for your needs.

That setup will pull about ~60W when stressing GPU & CPU according to a recent review over on Anandtech
Zotac supply a 90W (19v) external PSU with their mini-ITX Atom boards.
