I figured asking one of you young bucks a question about the DFI Lanparty nF4 SLI-DR would be a good idea since I've been out of the overclocking loop for several years.Im a 36 yr old overclocker from way back and when you loose sight of the new things out there, Its hard to get back into the groove again.I recently purchased some parts for my new rig and I have a question regarding overclocking the DFI board. I would like to get the most of the board without burning anything up.Can you guys point me in the right direction to get a rock solid setup for alittle online gaming? I said alittle because my wife was looking over my shoulder as I was typing this.Alot of gaming!!

Heres what I have to work with.

DFI nF4 SLI-DR
AMD 3500+ (clawhammer)
Mushkin Redline XP4000

Im not going to list the rest of the hardware because I dont think it will make a different in your response.If someone has knowledge w/ the nF4 SLI-DR board with similiar memory configuration that could help me out with some BIOS setting so I can get the most of this motherboard and memory I would appreciate it... With what you got there your good to go OC, must make sure you got some good cooling on you system, thermalright xp-90, xp120, si120. The DFI is about the best overclocking motherboard out there. I have the Ultra-D which is almost the same (at least it is with the mod i did). You got the right stuff so go for it, its a clawhammer so it can take 1.7v with good cooling. That ram can also take up to 3.4v with active cooling. You might also want to look into some of the bioses for this board as they can make a huge difference in your OC.

I guess I can put the juice to them.Now, does the cpu unlock from within the bios or is it like the old fashion days manually unlocking the chip?Whats the default voltage for a 3500+ ? I other question. To reach the recommended speed (500)for the modules would it take the maximium recommended voltage which is 3.5 or would it very between the 3.3-3.5 .I've read reviews were these guys are pumping these things up to 530+ . Are these modules safe to drive like that? Ofcourse everything depends on cooling.Doesnt it ...

off hand i dont remember the stock voltage of the CH 3500+ but you should be fine like i said up to 1.7v. Under the genie bios option you can set your cpu multi, they are only unlocked down but hey thats beter than not at all. With the redline your going to need lots of voltage but i dont know that you need 3.5v use the built in memtest in the bios to check your stablity.

a while back i wrote a easy to use guide for overclocking the A64, you might want to take a look at it.

What kind of juce you puttin to it? A quality PSU is needed for a stable system, more so now than ever. You don't want to burn anythinhg up, supply it with stable power under load.
You probably know this, but I thought I'd add it.

I've read reviews and the case that caught my eye and the brand that Im familier with was a Antec TX640B w/ a 400watt ATX 12v 2.0 spec power suppy..This should be plenty for now until I get another BFG 7800GT OC.I heard running two of these card in SLI mode will require 550 or better.

The DFI boards require good and powerful powersupplies. So you should look into something better. I blive 480watts is the minimum.

that 400w atx 2.0 should be fine for now.
