Help with desion on new motherboard

Post by sleepycat »

Hello there, first time posting on this forum. I am selling my asus a8v deluxe which I'm sick of. I had a a8v and it didn't work with the new cpu I bought which is a amd 64 3000+, so the store gave me the deluxe instead. Now I'm having problems with usb, IDE 133 problems, bios. it's just a mess. I have been told a 100 times by a pc tech at this local pc store that he has never had problems with MSI. so this is what I'm looking at

MSI K8N Neo4 152 cnd

also I herid DFI is good. I also will need a new video card. If someone could suggest a good motherboard and not bad video card. I'm will to spend like 100 bucks on a new video card. That is in canadian funds. I'm from canada.

Thanks.

yes Dfi is a top performer especially when you want to OC. you can't get a good vid card for $100CDN though. if you want a great deal get the HIS x800GTO which overclocks beyond x850xt levels:

http://www.mvktech.net/content/view/2328/0/1/0/

or the saphire x800GTO 2 which can be flashed to x850xt pe

now bot of these are more than $100CDN but are well worth it cause for a mainstrem price you get a high end card.
also the 6800LE is a good choice if you can open up the remaining 8 pipes with riva tuner. I just did that and my default 2900 score in 3dmark05 jumped to 5300 points with opening the pipes and OC. the LE is also cheaper then the GTO but its a gamble if you can open the pipes or not. mostly it works though.

the 6600 isn't bad eccept there isn't much more potential in it like in those cards I offered. it has 8 pipes and no more can be opened, also the memory bus is only 128bit instead of 256bit. so in short you get what you paid for, when with the 3 I mentioned you get much more then you paid for. if you read abot HIS, then you see that it can be overclocked past x850xt which is a high end card and costs much more. the sapphire x800gto2 on the other hand can be flashed to be a full blown x850xt pe for the fracture of the price. the 6800le can easily reach GT speeds after the pipes are open and with good cooling and a voltmod even reach ultra speeds. oh, and the HIS x800gto has an excelent cooling, while the 6600gt from asus has a little cheapo cooler not even covering the ram. right now the 3 cards I mentioned are the best buys because of OC potential thus the best value for the money.
