Chaintech Customer Support

Post by gvblake22 »

Well, I have oficially completed my first ever RMA! I have to admit, I was pretty worried, but the process went much more smoothly than I had anticipated.
I had a Chaintech VNF4 Ultra motherboard and one of the USB ports on the back had broken and the board came with an old passive heatsink that should have been active (the active chipset heatsink is currently being shipped on all the new VNF4 Ultra boards).
So I e-mailed the USA branch of Chaintech (located in California) and they responded very quickly with a form I had to fill out. I filled it out, sent it back, and recieved another quick e-mail with my RMA#. WOO HOO!
The instructions from there were very clear and straight forward. I had to pay shipping costs to send it to them, but that was it, they replaced the board for free and shipped it back to me at no cost to me.
The time from when I shipped the board out to when I got the replacement back was a little longer than expected (probably almost 3 weeks), but I did, infact, get my replacement. It was a brand new board, still sealed in the anti-static bag. Even a new box! haha
The chipset cooler was active and it looked to be in perfect shape.

So if anyone is worried about the quality of customer service from Chaintech, don't be. My experience was great, and I think Chaintech is a highly under rated manufacturer! So buy that next Chaintech mobo or video card or sound card with confidence! :drinkers:

Well this was my week for RMA's I guess!
My Western Digital 74Gb Raptor SATA HDD just completely took a $hit and stopped working. So I went on to Western Digital's webiste and found thier RMA request page in no time. I opted for the "advanced replacement" option where they send me a new drive right away and then I send them my old/broken drive when I get the new one working (within a month). I filled it out (had to give them the credit card number for this one just in case I don't send back a drive) on Sunday and recieved my new drive today (Wednesday)! That is some fast acting advanced replacement if ya ask me! So if you need to do a Western Digital RMA and need your new drive in snap, the advanced replacement RMA is the way to go!

WOW, well, it looks like I'll be testing out my RMA skills again! As I described before, my Raptor HDD died and I had to get a new one. Well, it came, and it worked, but windows would NOT install, just kept getting the same BSOD at the same spot, every time! So I tried a different HDD, same problem. So I even tried ANOTHER HDD, same problem again!
So I decided to swap out the DFI board and put the Chaintech board in and see what happens. VOIALA, it boots up and installs windows on my new Raptor just fine on the first try. So I think it's safe to say there was something messed up with the DFI board. Guess I'll get to see how DFI's customer support/return policy is!

This is also the reason why I have not been folding as of the past week or so, my computer has been down this whole time :(

At least I had that extra mobo to try, I don't know what I would have done otherwise!
