I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this question, so I appologize if it isn't.
My setup- Dfi UT nF3 250GB http://us.dfi.com.tw/Product/xx_product ... MB&SITE=NA
with an AMD 64 3200 if that matters at all...
On my taskbar my connection reads - Speed:100mbps... This is confusing me because I supposedly have gigabit lan. Am I misunderstanding something here?
I've got the Nforce 3 drivers installed and everything. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!!
thanks
Gigabit Lan on Dfi mobo...

There can only be 1gb network if the router supports it. And if you're not on a router the other person has to have a 1gb network card as well to make 1gb possible
Athlon 64 3200+ @ 2300MHZ =3650+ Stock Voltage
eVGA GF6800GS 485/1200.

Sweex 400WATT 18amps
Dual layer DVD-RW

But maybe you have a 1gig network card and the local switch on the lanparty has 1gig as well so thats why you haved 1gig there.Apoptosis wrote:On my desktop is shows I have a 100MB/Sec connection and I have a 10/100 router. When I have gone to LAN Parties with a gig network it shows it correctly!
I do not assume you take your router with you when you go to a lanparty

heh, ever connect your mobo's NIC up to the router itself? it says you're running at 1Mb/s lol
only way to get your NIC to run at 1000mb/s is to have a router that has a 1000mb/s port on it; which the other people posting have said. but then that really doesn't matter much b/c your router to broadband modem connection is only running at 1mb/s.
to have a fast home LAN network you should buy a network switch that has 4 or 8 1000mb/s ports on it and connect all the computers to the 1000mb/s switch and then connect the 1000mb/s switch to the router thats connected to the broadband modem. it won't give you faster broadband performance, but it will give your connected computers the 1000mb/s between them all for very fast LAN Gaming or large file transfers.
