Tyan = Uber Stabe, They are workstation boards.HONkUS wrote:You cant OC with Tyan? there has to be a way!
Also that board can't do 2x SLI 16x
They might have very limited OC options............
I like your thinking, but Opteron 2* series chips along with registered ECC ram is very expensive. It won't be 4x4 since they use a different socket than AM2 (they use socket F / 1207 pin)
4x4 will be very expensive.......if you use 2 FX cpus......AMD might allow support for lower-end chips, but they defeat the whole idea of competing with Intels up and coming Kentsfield (real) quad core cpu.
Intel's quad core initially will also be very expensive, it will replace the EE chip, so it will be ~$900! AFAIK
I wouldn't worry about quad core for a while, IMO it's a marketting gimmick. Software/games are only now getting multi-threaded support.....dual core is enough. Give it a 9mths to a year from now, then we will see the real performance in day to day apps.
I still wouldn't say no though........it would make a nice folding/media encoding rig ;)

Yeah......I've given up on The Simpsons too........HONkUS wrote:lol I miss The Simpsons whatever happened to that show, its really gone to crap the last couple of years.
Occasionally they bring out a good episode.........usually you have to watch 2-3 shows for one good joke, not like the earlier shows.
Futurama was cool..........and they are bringing it back next year

Dan
The MaxPC '05 Dream Machine had a Tyan mobo and dual 7800GTX SLI. It was fast, but very expensive. 8GB RAM, dual everything (dual dual core processors, dual graphics, dual RAID0 arrays, dual channel RAM, dual DVD burners....) but it can't keep up with Conroe or the new AMD systems.
