new PC

Post by kenc51 »

I just got my new board.....Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe => I can overclock again! :partyman:
After ~20mins tweaking I got this!
Image
I've passed ~1hr of ORTHOS....

3800+ @ 1.45v (enabled .1v overvolt by mistake, so it might not need so much)
1 x 1GB G.Skill HZ DDR500 - 186mhz divider 3-4-4-12 for now
Thermalright SI 120 HSF (Thanx again Joe!)

I can't wait till I get a new Res for my h2o setup.....temps are ~47C = too high for my liking!

Hey sasar Image

Thanks for dropping by! Hopefuly I can persuade you to buy a new motherboard and OC that E6300 chip of yours :finga:
BTW for anyone who doesn't know, saser works with me........and he might also be my new boss soon.......so be nice to him LOL

So far I can only get 2.65GHz stable with 1.474v in the bios ](*,)
I tried 1.5v and 2.7 but failed ORTHOS within seconds. Temps never go over 50C. I'll try 1.55v and some tewaking later on......but I think 2.65 will be my max for 24/7 untill I get my watercooling back up.

One thing I love about this boards is, when you push it too far, all you need to do is powerup and then off when the bios is loading.....then when you power it on again it enters safe mode and boots back into the bios....
I only needed to reset the Bios once ;)
There are some crazy bios options....and with the help of BigToe I was able to get the HTT to 1350MHz (270x5) with stock chipset voltage
I'm going to see what max HTT I can hit using the 5x multi.....also see if I can get much over 300 using the 4x or 3x multi.

I've got 1x 1GB stick of ddr500 & 2x OCZ Plat rev2 TCCD sticks. The board will only boot with the ram running the 100MHz divider when I try to install all sticks......no matter what I do I can't get thee board to boot with a higher ram divider.....so I'm thinking, lower the cpu multi, raise the HTT untill the ram is over 400MHz and hopefully find a happy medium......but this will mean reaching well over 300MHz HTT

/now for another day of looking at memtest for hrs --> onwards and upwards ehh

This is a new 3800+ since the "expert" killed both of the other chips......I think I had that Opty for about 1 month b4 it was killed :x
highest HTT I got using the stock chipset was 320MHz using the 3x multi
using the 5X was ~235MHz
I never got around to trying again with the chipset watercooled.
I've got special plans for that "expert" board btw  (watch out for a thread on that in a while)

The highest stable HTT I can hit is only ~345MHz using a 3x divider
I haven't tried to max it out with the 5x multi. To be honest I sick of watching memtest, orthos and 3dmark...........
Still the max I can get with the 3800+ is 2.65GHz!

The board won't boot at all with 2x 512 sticks of TCCD
It will boot with them if I also use a single 1gb G.Skill alongside them though   BUT as I mentioned the ram is forced to run a 100MHz divider.....I can use the 433, 466 and 500MHz dividers but then I can't OC the CPU. I tried the 3 sticks and tried to OC the ram using a 6x multi on the CPU but the board maxed out at 350MHz and even then the ram still wasn't near 200MHz (ddr 400)

I'll try again later on this week, but it looks like I'll be running 1gb of ram until I switch to Conroe in a month or two

I decided to rename this thread instead of creating a new one.

I got a new water pump for my setup for cheap, it's an Eheim 1046.
They are not very powerfull, but I plan to run it alongside my Delphi Lang DCC1+ . I might use the Eheim on a seperatte loop for the GFX card as I have two Rads.
I also have a new Resivoir and will be getting a GFX waterblock next week ;)

I'm in work now, but I'll post details and pics when I get home, sometime this evening........I hope.
I'm also thinking of removing the IHS from my chip too :finga:

//I'm currenntly bored out of my nut here in work, I'm supervising an Exam for new recruits here in work and all I have to entertain me is a pc and a 42" screen........the problem is, they can read what I'm typing LOL
