Hi,
can anyone tell me if it is ok to run a ATI x1950pro in an asus A8NSLI Deluxe and any issues that may be associated with running ati hardware in Nvidia motherboards. I am only running a single card so the sli bit should not enter into the equation i hope

You can run an ATI video card on a nVida motherboard and vice-versa with a nVidia video card on an ATI motherboard.
Only limitation is Crossfire is not support on a nVidia SLI motheboard and vice-versa on with SLI on a ATI Crossfire board.

I know that is what sucks about it. I just wish that they could have worked out a standard for dual video cards so that you could run either setup on any chipset.

A Dual GPU standard would have been pretty cool, like a lot of things in a PC; SATA, RAM, PCI etc. Aside from the obvious marketing, i imagine the chipsets would play a large part in Crossfire and SLI.
For the original poster, i would say get an NVIDIA card if your buying a new one, may as well at least have the option of adding a second card later on, with a single ATi card that is obviously not an option. If, however you already had the card or you got it from a friend or something then that's a different story.
