Problem 2.I can't access the BIOS on an ASUS M2A-VM-HDMI. I have tried every combo from the suggested DEL on POST to F2 & F10. When I do the DEL, it says something like starting BIOS and then nothing. I'm trying to look at the BIOS setup prepratory to updating the BIOS because of:
Problem 1. I get a black screen whenever I start or restart with a warm machine. I'll get video only when it cools for 15 minutes or so. I'll also get a sudden black screen when I run through a series of photos and make the graphics card do heavy lifting. I've checked the temp and Nvidia says it's ok. Even though the problem occurs before the graphics driver is loaded, I tried an older driver but it didn't help.

What's the temp on your CPU like?

are all the fans spinning inside the case? CPU, Video, case? (although if the CPU fan wasnt spinning you would likely know by now)
Also for the bios problem, you are not using a USB keyboard are you?

The fans are spinning and the keyboard is PS2. The core temp is 51 degrees C and the Nvidia 8400 is 73-79 degrees C. Nvidia says it should handle up to 100C.

What is you Chipset Temp? Did you recently updated your BIOS ? I have the same MOBO from MSI. I had this prob 2 or 3 times.
