with an fx-55, dont you think you should sell the 6800gt and look for a pci-e card?

Yeah the DFI is about the best your going to get. Just keep in mind that your FX is going to be limited by the older nForce chip.

Is the limitation because of the NF 3 chip?

YES, I'm not a big fan of ASUS' AMD boards, but you might want to check out the A8V Deluxe, I had one, and though it wasn't a great overclocker, it was as is usual for ASUS boards, a very stable board..

Thanks for the hint. What are the advantages of NF 4 over NF 3?

No it was suggested that I sell my card. which is an AGP and get a PCI-E one and that way I could get a NF-4 mobo.I have no market for this card here, since very few people realize what a 6800GT OC card can do.

i beg to differ. i'm sure you can sell it on the anandtech forums or the hardocp forums. if you throw it up there for $275, someone will nab it up. people are selling their pci-e x850xt pe for around $315-350 on those forums...

I understand what you are saying, but even if I did that. What do I use while my new order comes in?All I have is a couple of Trident 2mb video cards which are now totally obsolete. What I meant by no market is,in this town there is no market for this kind of high end card.To sell locally that is.

it'll only be a couple days... you can wait a couple days. until you get the new graphics card and nf4 motherboard, use the onboard graphics you've got now. like i said, it'll only be a couple days.

edit: or you could buy the parts before you sell your card.

I know what you are saying, this board does not have video built in.I depend on selling the card in order to get the new hardware.I could just keep it shutdown, but is going to be hard to do.

my advice would be to coordinate selling both your graphics card and your motherboard. whenever you sold them both, find a seller in one of those forums who is selling what you're looking for. buy it and it should be at your doorstep in 3 or 4 days. make sure that they have good references (heatware and ebay).

OK,I'll consider your advice.

Do not sell or buy anything on Hard forums. The place is full of scum bags, no offense to the site, but i have had some horrible experiencews there. Stick with anandtech forums, and double check anyone you deal with through trollhunters.com.
I don't use SLI, but have a pair of 6600GTs that I used for testing if you are interested. You'd need to sweeten the deal a bit, but they are very, very good PCI-E cards and work very well in SLI mode.

i'll tell you this much.... the moderators at hardocp's forums are the biggest bunch of creamy jifbags i've ever met.... completely arrogant and unfriendly. in a couple of my sales (and in my bumps of other sales), i'd throw in a jab here or there to the hardocp moderators. most of the people that read them laugh and seem to agree (i dont care if they ban me.... fvck them in their mule asses).

however, there are some good buyers and sellers there. i've sold to 2 people from there so far (soon to be 3).

anandtech has a much more friendly atmosphere. lots of the same people from anandtech get on hardocp's forums and vice versa.

I won't get into my feelings about HardOCP, all I'll say is that wherever youdeal, and whoever you deal with.....make sure you check them out at trollhunters.com. It is a great group of guyys that tries to help people who have been screwed in online sales. They try to help people recover money, then they try to prevent the bad people from screwing others by posting their names, cities, and what they have done.
As far as websites and forums, one of my biggest pet peeves is people being jerks, mods or otherwise, I won't tolerate it, and am extremely proud of the group that frequents Legit Forums....you guys really are good people.
