raptor HD?

I have the nf7-s and was considering getting another raptor to make a raid so it will be faster. I currently have the 40gig special edition but can only find the 37.6gig raptors. Can I still pair them up? Will this be a noticeable difference when or if I do it?

you can raid any two drives as long as they are the same size. if you have to 37.6 gig raptors then a raid 0 is no problem. yes it will be faster than a single drive, and much faster than your 40gig special edition drive.

not on a nf7-s, with a nf3 250gb or a nf2 400gb maybe

Raptor's are 10,000RPM and the Special Edition is only 7,200RPM. Think of it driving a car with the front tires doing 100mph and the back tires doing 72mph. It just wouldn't work right!

This is a good article disecting RAID 0 in a single user desktop environment using two 74Gb Raptors and I think it my be an eye opener.
Personally, I just use one 74Gb Raptor for all my programs and OS and then I have another 120Gb Seagate IDE drive for mass storage and backups and its great.
Oh yeah, and trying to RAID those two drives would not work right, sorry
