8-pin mobo connector

Aw Shucks! I got in the mobo I bought from a forum, and after everything is in the case I have for my HTPC, I see that there is an 8-pin 12v connector for the mobo, but I only have a 4=pin and a 6-pin on my PSU (came with the Ultra Microfly case). Does this mean that I have to go online and find a molex4 > 4pin adapter, or a 6-pin>4 pin adapter?

Nothing ever goes easy for me, something always has to be a PIA ](*,)

actually you need either a dual molex->8pin ATX or 4pin ATX->8pin ATX

Hmmm, should I assume that the dual molex > 8pin adapter is the better way to go since it will spread the power draw over 2 molex's rather than forcing the 4 pin to cover the power requirements? Or will it matter?

On one hand that sounds better but I trust OKGear more than Logisys so...

Cool, thanks for the reply!

Looks like it will still be a few days before I get to fire it up and test the CPU... :(

Uh oh, I better go find some wood to knock on!

The 4 pin will work on a 8 pin board.
I just came across this a couple of days ago.

Hmmm got a link? Since I already ordered it and its on the way the info will be for future reference but it is still good to know. I did notice though that plugging in 2x4pins wouldn't work, the 4 pin fit when plugging in starting on the left, but then it wouldn't plug when I tried it in the remaining holes. I also saw a reference on some PSUs that had a 4/8pin connector listed, I guess it is like the 20/4pin ones, where you can disconnect the extras if you don't need them in your particular application.

one of my customer's motherboard died. I ordered a new mother cpu and ram. His old Power supply doesn't have the 8 pin adapter and his new motherboard has the 8 pin power on it.. I looked up on google and found that I could use the 4 pin into the 8 pin slot and it would work. I did this and everything worked fine.
