can you use an ati on an nvidia chipset?

Simply that. I have a freebee ECS motherboard that came with my x2 proc and i am wanted to get an ATI x1800. Will i have performace degrade or anything like that using an nvidia with an ATI?

My x800GTO is running just fine on my nF4 board with an x2 proc. :) Even back in the early days of nVidia relasing nForce boards I never have had a problem running a non-nVidia graphics card on them.

nope. you can't. the chips are different, so they cancel each other's performances out.

lol ok, i thought so, i just wanted to make sure before i poor 400 bucks into a video card! I just put my order through for an x1800xl. Didnt have the money for an XT. :( THANK YOU!! and forgive my ignorance!
