can you use an ati on an nvidia chipset?

Simply that. I have a freebee ECS motherboard that came with my x2 proc and i am wanted to get an ATI x1800. Will i have performace degrade or anything like that using an nvidia with an ATI?

My x800GTO is running just fine on my nF4 board with an x2 proc.

Even back in the early days of nVidia relasing nForce boards I never have had a problem running a non-nVidia graphics card on them.

nope. you can't. the chips are different, so they cancel each other's performances out.

lol ok, i thought so, i just wanted to make sure before i poor 400 bucks into a video card! I just put my order through for an x1800xl. Didnt have the money for an XT.
