A8N32SLI DELUXE!?

Post by grunt »

Hey dudes! Gonna be back in a few weeks finally... Building another system, and I have the fatal1ty an8 SLI but Im thinking about returning it. Got my 2gb Mushkin ddr500 kit. Wondering what you guys think of the new ASUS A8n32sli board? Only have 1 7800gtx at the moment but will be getting another so I want an SLI board. Havent made up my mind on the 3700 San D. or 4400+ Toledo. Headed to Korea in July, lol. So LCD it is... Wanting something with 1600x1200 res so I can good looking games but at minimal lag. Help me out guru's lol. Cant wait to get back to the states, especially to get the pc up and running on cable internet!! My wife is about a week behind me leaving this sh!t hole so I have uninterrupted time to get it working good!!!

Highly regarded board. However, make sure whatever cards you have will actually fit the board. I had to go with the Abit AN8 Ultra for that very reason. :(

The Asus probably isn't too bad of a board. I think I've only read one review on it, haven't talked to anyone that owns it. You probably won't get too much performance improvement from 16x16 lane SLI over the traditional 8x8 lane, but ya never know.

Reveiw of Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe HERE

If you can afford the dual core, I would definately say go that route. You probably won't get much gaming improvement from the dual core, but everything else will benefit (audio/video processing and multitasking).

Good luck in your travels :)

Dont bother with the Asus, the chipset fan fails all the time, and they wont replace it unless you RMA the whole board.

uh... the ASUS AN832-SLI doesn't have any chipset fans! Great board with 8-Phase power and true dual x16 SLI graphics. I believe Jason and RIch both own the board here on the forums.

About the whole fan issue... I can't think of a company that will just send you a new fan... ATI, Chaintech, and ABIT have made me send back boards/cards with bad fans for repair, so it's not just ASUS

So should I send the fatal1ty back to newegg for it? Also, whats you guys pick on a gaming lcd? around 19"?

edit: What would be the best SLI board to go with? Newegg just emailed me back and theyre going to be nice enough to not charge me a restocking fee so help me out guys... DFI SLI-DR "expert", MSI, ASUS... Im a gamer (and folder) and love to squeeze out some extra speed...

I'd vote for either the ASUS AN832-SLI or the DFI LanParty NForce4 SLI Expert board. I've heard many props from the review/insider community on the ASUS board and the DFI was small if any improvement over the regular SLI board. Pastorj or PJ bought the DFI Expert board, so I'll let him share the comments on that board.

Grunt, I would like to thank you for your service to this country and I look forward to your safe return back home. Good to see you'll be back around!

ok, I think dfi will be better once you spend endless hours tweaking it to death. Where the ASUS will work awesome out of the box.. So, if its available (the asus) for a decent price then I will go with that one.

NOW, OPPINIONS!!!! 2005fpw from DELL?? Whatscha think!?!?!

Hum the shopping site shows that it is out of stock. I did a search at Zipzoomfly and Newegg and couldn't even find the AN832 on their site. Odd...

The Asus is very hard to find right now but some suppliers that I've spoken with have indicated new shipments to arrive at retailers starting tomorrow.

I would spring for the A64 X2 (coming from a guy with a 3GHz single core Athlon). Dual core surpassing single core performance in gaming is closer than you think, it's already here!! Maybe we can talk the head honcho into a review? ;)

It seems to be a growing trend with the DFI Lanparty NF4 boards as well. Most people like to replace them with Evercool's anyway (I did) because the stock fan is NOISY andthe EC cools better :|

Don't waste your hard earned money on this until ASUS steps up and fixes all of the MAJOR problems with this board.

Read the topic on the ASUS forum: "EVERYONE read: All problems found so far" and it will make you consider another purchase.
