a7n8x deluxe bios flash failed!!!

Hey guys,

I'm desperate for some help!
As the title says, my flash failed. And please no chit chat about why I had to flash it and what purpose it would have. Now is the time to fix it.

I have an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe rev 2.0
It was award bios version 1007 and I thought about upgrading it to 1008.
The only problem was, I didn't know you had to clear cmos jumper before flashing ( still not sure anyway). When my pc starts up first there comes a screen wich I can activate with alt+f2 to start the flashing utility.
I'm sure I downloaded the right version (1008) for the right revision (2.0).
In the first place it seemed to flash well. Then it seemed ready and it rebooted. Then I got a bios checksum error and it tried to start awdflash from
a floppy. So I downloaded awd flash 8.24. But when I tried to flash it again with 8.24 it said "Source file not found"

After looking for solutions I found out that 8.23z and earlier version fixed this problem. So I downloaded 8.23z but then I got the error: "The program file's Bios-lock string does not match with your system"

I thought like what the heck. After that I decided to clear cmos jumper again. No avail. I've been searching for sites for solutions the whole freakin day and still haven't found answers but some strange solutinos with autoexec.bat files of wich I do not understand ****.
I tried these by creating these autoexec.bat files with different lines of code (or something)

You have to know I cannot boot farther than bootblock 1.0, then it asks for the flashutility. After that follows the error above.

I have no clue and I'm supposed to have a LAN party tomorrow with some friends!!

Help me oh mighty legitimate gods!

thanks in advance

The one who screwed it up. :|

When you rest the Bios....Did you remove the battery too?

The manual says to..!
A bios checksum error is normal after the first reboot after flashing.......
Your right according to Asus 1008 is the bios for rev.2.....

Can you re-flash the bios using the first method? (ie. not using awd flash)Coz if you can, just re-flash the 1008 bios....when it says checksum error, don't worry..just set the time etc and save....

Yes, I pulled out the little plastic jumper or whatever it is and the battery it just fell out when i pulled it.
Then i waited like 10 minutes to put it back in. THen it still didn't work.
Btw. How can I set date and time when I can't get in to my bios. It isn't there lol. I have to flash at bootblock wich starts at the beginning when I boot my pc.

When I said to chage the time, this was IF you could reflash...

have you tried to force the bios to update...I think you run: audflash /qi /f
the /f means force....

otherwise I'm not sure :?

Ok, but if you could get me the right code to force, of wich I'm sure you will :axe: then should I put it as a autoexec.bat in my floppy?

Can you boot from a floppy? or is the boards bios update utility just coming up? (then mayby searching for a bios via floppy)

OK here's what I got.
The only way I could flash now is by a floppy. To do so (what has been told to me) is that I copy the AWD flash utility and the bios.bin on the floppy to be able to flash.
But unfortunately when the utility starts, it says for about 20 seconds please wait and then it says "The program file's bios-lock string does not match you system.

As I've told already, there seem ways to be able to force the flash by using an autoexec.bat file with some string(s) with code.

I need to know which......I guess...

create a bootable floppy (r-click floppy in my computer, goto format)
Go into the newly created boot disk, in there you will find a file...autoexec.bat -> r-click and open with notepad

Add the following "awdflash.exe 1010-x.bin /py /sn /cc /cp /cd /sb /r" (without quotes)

More details on the award bios flashing options here

Damn , tried again but no avail. Remember I'm doing this with awd flash utility 8.23z. Maybe that helps

Hey I read something on a site about ising drdos. I don't really understand what they mean by putting drdos on a floppy coz it's like 7mb.

This is the site
