mobo/cpu FSB compatibility

If a cpu has FSB @ 2000 mhz would you also want the mobo @ 2000 mhz? Say if you got a mobo with 1000 mhz FSB would this make the 2000 mhz CPU FSB basically 1000?

Where did you see 2000MHz??
A CPU uses what's called a multiplier......
Say your cpu does 2GHz (2000MHz), your ram runs @ 200MHz (400MHz DDR -> double data rate) and that cpu would have a multi of 10x
ie. 200x10=2000 or 2GHz
The CPU connects to the Ram, GFX etc using whats called the Hypertransport bus. This bus runs @ 1000MHz or 200MHz with a multi of 5x (5x200=1GHz)
AMD use this single HT bus to communicate with everything on the motherbooard, the high-end opteron server chips can also have more than one HT bus, used to communicate with other cpus on the mobo.
All cpus use multipliers to get their speed....usually with a base freuency of 100,133,166,200 or 266MHz as their base frequency. (AMD64 uses 200MHz)
The basic way to overclock is to increase this base frequency.

I've changed the HTT from 200 to 280 to get 2.8GHz
