Asus P5N nvidia 750i...worth it?
Asus P5N nvidia 750i...worth it?
I like the fact that this is a 750i and made by Asus, which will allow me to keep my current ram and not have to upgrade. Anyway...I know you get what you pay for, but this is the cheapest 750i I found and that's nice, but will I have a problem overclocking an intell 6600 I want to put in it. I'm also going to sli a couple 8800gt's and use ballistix ram with vista hp 64 bit. Any info on how this board will perform overclocking wise with the 6600 would be a great help. Reviews I've seen on the egg show a couple guys using the 6600, but they don't mention anything about oc'ing stats, except to 3.0. All the reviews are mixed on this board, most use the e8400 on it. Nvidia stats on the 750i look good and I'm at a loss why the reviewers are so hard on this particular one. Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this post.

To be honest NVIDIA didn't sample any media with the board so all the reviews are coming from the board partners. We've yet to see or ask for a 750i here at LR, so can't give you any great advice. It's not going to break overclocking records with your Q6600 for certain, but should be able to allow you to tweak it and have some fun while still keeping a good budget.
Re: Asus P5N nvidia 750i...worth it?
Thanks for your response, that was good to know. Do you or any anyone here at LR know of any 750i boards that perform well? Evga, XFX? Maybe even gigabyte or msi. I had the EVGA on the wishlist and then ran into the Asus for $70 less and I was like "Whoa, what's wrong with this?" I'm using an Asus Amd board now, and I like it, so I was trying to find out if the Asus 750i was worth it since it was so much cheaper then any other 750i. I'll give Asus the first look and if it does'nt suit...I'll move on. Thanks again.

Re: Asus P5N nvidia 750i...worth it?
Ok, thanks....here's the board I'm thinking about, I see you have the 680i. Thought about that with the gtx. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813131232 I also like the p5e but would have to go the gtx or ultra route with that. Want to sli over xfire. I read alot about problems with the 780 and 790i's that I thought I'd go 750 since its older and may have the bugs worked out or enough people that know about and how to fix problems that crop up. I also like DFI's versions of the 700 series, but I'd have to find someone to coach me there since their bios is so different and can damage things if not understood....so I hear. I may just get this with the 8400 and sli the 8800gt. That would allow for the 1300 fsb and option for the 9300 if I want quad at the same bus. Oh well, hear alot of good things about Q6600, wanted to try that first. Thanks all.
