Years ago I built several computers. But haven't really kept up with the changes. I am no Guru.
I wanted to build this system to do work with video editing and Photography. (Premiere Elements 4 and Photoshop CS)
I don't want to over clock.
The Asus MB is not available. What Intel MB would utilize the pieces below, allow performance and work worry free?
(if Intel worn't work, what will?)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300
2 - Kingston 1GB 240 pin DDR2 6400
2 - WD2500KS 250GB SATAII HD
ATI Radeon x1950pro 256 MB PCI-E 16x
on board 5.1 or 7.1 sound
Windows XP Pro SP2
1 DL DVD/CD Reader/Writer
1 DVD/CD Reader
on board WiFi
I need at least 4 USB and 2 Firewire ports.
As many PCI slots as possible
Thanks in advance for any advice

Asus p5b Deluxe-WiFi vs Intel MB HELP
Re: Asus p5b Deluxe-WiFi vs Intel MB HELP
Unfortunately, few boards come with 2 firewire ports built-in. As of writing, the only ones I found with 2 firewire ports are recent Gigabyte P45 motherboards. It's also quite hard to find motherboards with built-in wifi. It would seem that those two specific requirements don't co-exist on a single board. However, most have firewire headers so if the case you buy has front firewire ports, they'll be usable. Another benefit to firewire is it can be daisy-chained. You could also just as easily buy a firewire hub. If you must have wifi, I suggest foregoing the firewire port. You have more options when it comes to adding firewire ports as compared to adding wifi support.
The following boards should fit your requirements, except for the lack of an extra firewire port. Read the reviews and decide which would be best for you.

Re: Asus p5b Deluxe-WiFi vs Intel MB HELP
even if they dont have two on the back panel, most higher end motherboards come with a head for at least 2 more and a bracket with firewire and usb ports
