p5n-d optional fan

Post by XstollieX »

Picked up an asus p5n-d to run dual 9600gts for some folding. It comes with an optional fan for the nb heatsink. It says not to use it unless using passive or water cooling. I could see that if I were using a stock cooler. I will be using a arctic cooling freezer 7 pro. Anyone think it will be an issue?

That was my thought. I figured with a stock cooler it has a downward and outward airflow which could interfere with the chipset fan or vice versa. While the freezer 7 is only outward and will stay above the chipset

If your case airflow is decent you could get away without using it, but if you don't mind the noise, there is no harm in using it.

This set up is going into an armor case with the 250mm fan.
