Well, I finally took the processor and heatsink out, cleaned them and applied new artic silver paste. I booted into the bios and watched the temps for about 5 min. Processor thermal margin: 29c, internal temp: 34c, remove temp: 30c. I then proceeded to boot into windows. I didn't even get a few seconds into the booting before the red light came on the mobo ](*,)

I'm really starting to think this is a motherboard problem as there is nothing wrong with the temps in my pc. What do you guys think? I replied to the intel support e-mail that I received last Friday.

Cheers!

Yeah, it sounds like something isn't working right. See what Intel have to say, and hopefully they will be able to repair it for you.

Late last week I received my RMA'd intel board in the mail. I put it in my case, hooked everything up and so far so good, no problems!!! It's been running for about 2 hours now with no problems. I'm just running some updates now. I will say that Intel was really fast on shipping my new board out to me - of course after they received the bad one.

Also, does anyone else have trouble getting those stupid stock fans secured to the mobo? I must have spent atleast 30 min trying to get it attached.

Hopefully all will continue to run smooth. I'll try and post in about a week if all is going good. Thanks again for everyone's help in helping my troubleshoot this problem! I wouldn't have been able to do it without your help!

Cheers!

Glad to see it's all sorted :)

If you are on about the stock intel cpu cooler, as long as the legs are with the arrows all pointing left (i think its left anyway, but the important thing is that they aren't pointing towards the middle of the cooler), they should just click into place.

update: My computer has been running smooth since installing the new mobo! I've been playing FarCry 2 and L4D for many continuous hours with zero problems.

Thanks again!
