Mobo question

Hi, I have an Intel D945GTP mobo which came with XP pre-installed on it and booted without any issues. However, when I dual boot or tri-boot my PC with XP, Vista and Win 7, I have to wait 3 minutes from pressing the the start up botton on my PC until I see the option of what system I want to boot into. Why is this happening and does anyone else have this issue?

I have done a complete format of the hard drives (2) of my system and have done fresh installs of all OS's.

Hi, what HDD do you have, as in brand and model, all so give the entire specs of your PC to not just the board?

Hi, I have 2 HDD's. One is a Seagate Sata ST3500410AS [Hard drive] (500.11 GB). The other is a Seagate Sata ST380811AS ATA Device [Hard drive] (80.02 GB). It is a custom built computer by my school. Moo is a D945GTP. CPU is a 3.00 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4. I also have 2GB of RAM installed.

Are you using the 80GB for the dual/try-boot?

I was before. It had win 7 on it when it was in beta stage but since RTM came out I put all 3 on same HDD. Before I did, I formatted the 500GB HD and placed all three OS's on 500GB hdd.

Ok, try this in all three, go in to Command Prompt, run it as administrator, type sfc/scannow in the C.P. if you haven't don it already, this will check if your HDD has any corruptions in it which can cause your problem. All so when you did the format did you do a low format first than a high format?

I will do the scans on all 3 as you suggested. I used Gparted live CD to format all 3 partitions.

ran scans on all and received the following msg "didn't find any integrity violations".

Ok there is one more test but you would have to download SeaTools for DOS from Seagate and do a DTS test to completely rule-out the HDD. The link below takes you to it, you should be able to download it to a CD-R just follow the instructions on See the tutorial to do it. If that passes then see if there is a BIOS update for the board.

Ok, I did all HDD tests and they all came back fine.

I am hoping to get some help from you guys when it comes to updating my BIOS as I have never done this before. I used CPUID to check my current version of 2/8/06. When I go to my mobo's web site, it says I am behind by 20 updates. When I looked at the most current one, it says I need to download the one b4 the current one. I tried to do this but when I downloaded it, and tried to run it, I get the following msg "the BIOS version you are installing is older than your system's current BIOS. Do you want to continue".


Now I am confused by this and am hoping to get some help. Here is the link to my mobo:

Well, I ended up downloading the first out of the 4 and it updated my BIOS, rebooted my PC and I used cpu-z and my BIOS is current now. That solved my probs. I really appreciate your help.
