D975XBX always tries to boot from eSATA drive

Post by Peter Meinl »

When connecting a eSATA disk using a VIA VT6421 Controller the mainbord always tries to boot from the eSATA disk (error BOOTMGR missing).
Changing the boot sequence in BIOS does not help.

D975XBX mainboard, BIOS 1476.
Matrix Raid configured with one stripe and one mirror set.
Secondary SATA controller disabled.
Booting from stripe into Vista x86 works fine.

Solution

Replacing the VIA PCI controller with a Delock PCI-Express controller
(20 Euro, JMicron JMB360 chipset) solved this problem.

Thanks for letting us know what solved the problem, very strange issue and since I don't use eSATA I couldn't have been of help.

Cheers
