Well if you want Core 2 Duo and SLI this is what I'd do...

Your pick on memory is good... I have a kit of the HyperX 9600 2GB at 1333Mhz CL5 at 2.5v, so it's a screamer...

i don't like your pick for a graphics card as a 7900GT is dated... I'd go with an 8800GTS and then you can do SLI when you want it down the road (it gives you an upgrade path and supports DX10) Think of game titles like Alan Wake and other kick ass DX10 games that are coming out later in 2007...

As for the motherboard any 680i SLI motherboard is decent, but I'm really impressed by the Asus P5N-E SLI Motherboard that jason reviewed HERE. It's cheap ($140) and overclocks just as good as any $250 680i board.

Oh and welcome to the forums!

Highly unlikely you will get any 975X board much over PC2-8500 speeds.

How about the P5N32-E SLI? Is that a good MB and will it work with my ram?

Also the only 680i MB i found that can run RAM at 1200mz is the EVGA 122-CK-NF68 NF680i SLi , do you know if this is any good?

Not too sure on the P5N32-E SLI as the one I have was DOA and I never bothered asking for a new one. As for the 680i the eVGA, BFG Tech and ECS models are all exactly the same and are all decent now that new BIOS versions have come out to fix a number of issues the board first launched with. LR has all three brands and they are all good boards... That's what I used to reach 1333MHz at 5-5-5-15 timings.

Money is no object?

I would say that the E6600 will suffice for just about any thing you care to do, saving money I would buy the E4300 and OC it.

I have read loads of posts about kingston hyper X mems not working with ASUS mobos and in particular the P5N-E SLI. I will however recommend this board, and if you don't need the $100 of extra features that comes with P5N32 I would just stick to the cheaper board that is just as good. I use it myself. 8x 16x SLI does not really matter.

Buy cheaper mems instead, you won't have to overclock them if you buy 6400. If you run a E6600 1:1 you will have it running at 3600Mhz instead of 2400 which to me is overkill 24/7. You could save some money buying 5300 mems and clocking them, I would recommend GEIL Ultras, reviewed at speeds of 515.

And yes if I understand you correctly you don't haven't bought the mems or gpus yet. Don't go for 7900GT in SLI, I you need 4 screens maybe, but if not go for, as already suggested, the 8800GTS.

Cheers!

I have a P5N32-E SLI, and let me tell you, that is one nice board.. if the RAM will work. I am using OCZ platinum edition revision 1 PC6400, I got it up to 900mhz, and trimmed down the latency a bit too. I also got my E6400 up to 3.5 ghz. Only trouble is that these mobo's seem to like certain "sweet spots" for example, it can over clock to 3.5 ghz, but not really to 3.4 ghz. Or it will come very close to working at 3.8, but won't even come close to working at 3.6-3.7.

All in all, it iw worth the money!
